Vintage Ganesh Wall Hanging with Red Edge and Frill

£320

This piece would look beautiful as a wall hanging in any setting but could also add a dash of colour to an alcove, bookcase, window or doorway. It would also make a vibrant addition to a child’s bedroom. A traditional vintage door hanging, providing an auspicious welcome and blessings for good fortune and happiness. In the centre is a trinity of flowers, flanked by magnificent, blue peacocks. Below them are two pots of flowers, ancient symbols for fertility and green parrots carrying baskets of flowers and in addition there are Hindu symbols of peace. A garland of flowers and leaves fringes round the edge to create a border and in addition there are Hindu symbols of peace. It has a red trim with 3 cotton hanging loops and a pale red fringe. Excellent condition with a small discolouration near the fringe due to age. Made by the farming (Kanbi) communities of Saurashtra. Circa 1960.
