Vintage Ganesh Wall hanging with multi coloured frill

This piece would look beautiful as a wall hanging in any setting but could also add a dash of colour above a double bed or an arch.A traditional vintage Ganesh door hanging, providing an auspicious welcome and the blessings of Ganesh, the elephant-headed God of good fortune and happiness. At his feet sits Krauncha, his mouse, and on either side he is flanked by Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and purity, sitting on her lotus blossom. Brightly coloured embroidered silk flowers, peacocks, trees, elephants decorate the rest of the toran, including the Lord Krishna as a baby and butter churners making divine butter for the gods. The border is intricately stitched with a string of chilli peppers along the top and colourful flowers and leaves surrounding the piece, The toran is trimmed in with a multi coloured cotton frill and trimmed in bright blue with 3 cotton hanging loops. Excellent condition with a few small discolourations due to age. Made by the farming (Kanbi) communities of Saurashtra. Circa 1960.
