Vintage Ganesh Door hanging with Red Trim and Multi Coloured Cotton Frill
This piece would look beautiful as a wall hanging in any setting but could also add a dash of colour above a double bed or over an arch. A traditional vintage Ganesh door hanging, providing an auspicious welcome and the blessings of Ganesh, the elephant-headed God of good fortune and happiness. At his feet sits Krauncha, his mouse, and on either side, Lord Krisna plays his flute to his sacred cows. Two figures dance and a menagerie of colourful parrots, peacocks and elephants are scattered amongst delicately embroidered flowers and leaves. The inner arch is inished off by a multi coloured cotton frill and the remaining border by a red trim with 4 cotton hanging loops. Good condition with a few discolourations due to age. Made by the farming (Kanbi) communities of Saurashtra. Circa 1960.
