Pelmet Wall hanging – Embroidered in Pastel Silk on Cream

A beautiful addition for a child’s room or elsewhere in the house. Could be displayed on the wall, alcove or bookcase. Fine kathipa stitching in pastel silks on a cream cotton background. Depicting peacocks, flowers and leaf motifs. Sisha mirror work. Five pennants representing mango leaves for good luck and edged with blue trim. 3 hanging loops. Multicoloured fabric tassels. A few small marks due to age. Made by the farming (Kanbi) communities of Saurashtra. Circa 1960.
