Jat community are herdsmen from Kaatch in Gujurat. Their embroidery is exquisite and labour-intensive. Jat embroidery is characterised by the use of counted thread work using tiny cross stitches worked in geometric patterns. Tiny mirrors are held in place by intricate stitch work. Coloured embroidery on a black thick cotton backing. This product is bought directly from a craftswomen’s cooperative in rural Gujurat (Kala Raksha).
